Scoring Nikes for fifty cents blog
I love shopping each week at local thrift shops and consignment stores for clothing for my 9monthold nephew, Timothy. I've been able to dress him in darling namebrand clothing for pennies on the dollar and have yet to pay full retail for anything. Brands like OshKosh, Baby Gap, Old Navy, Gerber,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Little Me,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], McKids and Carters fill the drawer. I found a darling velvet Christmas romper with matching shirt for $1.50 and it still had the retail tags!
My best "score" lately, though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], had to be a pair of Nike "Air Jordans" leather uppers for fifty cents! I saw similar shoes at a local retail store for $42!!
I've also had fun outfitting a new greatniece. Her mom said to look for 12month clothing that she could wear this time next year, as they have plenty of newborn items. I walked into my favorite thrift store one day and spotted a McKids chartreuse cardigan sweater with embroidered flowers in purples,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], pinks, and bright yellow centers. The sweater was $1.50 size 12 months. Of course, I could not pass this up! When I got home, I washed all of my finds of the day, only to discover that this cardigan was missing one of its green "flowershaped" buttons. I went to WalMart and found a package of "flowershaped" buttons. None were chartreuse green, but there were several in the package that were purple with yellow centers! The cardigan had five buttons down the front. I alternated original buttons with two of the purple flower buttons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and the sweater looked like it came this way! For less than $4, I had a designer sweater that matched several other items I had purchased and will look darling on my niece next winter.
Now I am on the hunt for pajamas for Timothy in size 1218 months. And I'm anxiously awaiting the "switchout" at the shops from winter to spring merchandise,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]. I just know there will be an Easter outfit there with his name on it!
