It occurred to me when a friend shared this video clip (Macbook Wheel) with me that this would spark a great conversation with kids and/or adults on how we can be by welldesigned video to believe even the absurd. (WARNING: If you use this with students,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], stop it before the inappropriate comment at the end.)
In another conversation with an English teacher,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we talked about using it to teach how to give constructive feedback using a tool such as DeBono PMI (Pluses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Minuses,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and Interesting). Watch the video above and list at least three pluses. Then turn the minuses into a problem statement such as might they shorten the time it takes to type an email? Finally add interesting thoughts that are not really positive or negative but more possibilities or ifs web is just full of thoughtprovoking content which can serve as conversation starters. After watching you view another brief video of a lineup and choose the person who was the bomber Every time I have done this,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], I have all but one person identify the bomber. The trick to this one is that the bomber is not actually in the lineup! Students are usually shocked to discover this, and it allows us to talk about the fallibility of memory and social pressures related to memory (ie. feeling pressure from police to make an identification).
There really is so much great stuff out there if you take the time to look,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but sometimes it difficult to muddle through all of the junk to find the gems. That why forums like this are great so that you can hear what worked for other educators.
