Roberto Luongo switches agents after Gillis meetin
Roberto Luongo has new agents. That has to make Mike Gillis feel a little worse,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
After the team's t to trade him, Luongo is now represented by Pat Brisson and J.P. Barry,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], . They're the agents for, among others,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Sidney Crosby.
Maybe Luongo just wanted a change. Maybe, like (jokingly or not), it was an attempt to turn the page on his awful contract.
Or, maybe he still wants out, and picked representation that had a better shot of getting it done. The main reason none of this matters all that much is, again, because of Luongo's contract. He carries a $5.3 million cap hit through 2022, with the potential for major cap recapture penalties down the line,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which makes him a virtual lock to be bought out next offseason.
On Tuesday, Gillis, the Canucks GM, shared the OK news with his season-ticket holders: Luongo didn't kick him out of the house when he showed up to talk about the whole we-ended-up-not-trading-you-and-please-will-you-start-again situation.
One takeaway: Gillis said he had "full confidence" that Luongo would be in Vancouver for the start of the 2013-14 season.
“The conversation was fine and good,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych],” Gillis said, . “It was fun and amiable and it wasn’t stressful or anything. We talked about the team. We talked about the coaching change and pretty much everything we could talk about. I told him how I felt about him and how we felt about him as an organization.”
At this point, though,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], it's more about how Luongo feels the organization. Check @strombone1 for the latest.
When does the schedule for the KHL get released??? I kid I kid.......
