The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a seven-year, $100 million contract extension with that will make the four-time All-Star the highest paid second baseman in baseball —at least for now.
Pedroia will have an average annual salary of more than $14 million under the deal,beats solo hd, which runs from 2015 until 2021 and includes a full no-trade clause. The club has not officially announced the extension,monster beats, but Pedroia about it.

The 2008 American League MVP, who will turn 30 on Aug. 17, is signed through 2014 (at $10 million) as part of the six-year, $40.5 million contract he signed in December 2008. The Red Sox hold an $11 million option for 2015 with a $500,000 buyout.

The contract extension figures to be of particular interest to the New York Yankees' Robinson Cano, another second baseman who's been a perennial American League All-Star. Cano,beats audio, who's 10 months older than Pedroia, is in the final season of a $57 million, six-year deal.
Cano left super-agent Scott Boras to sign with Jay-Z’s Roc Nation Sports earlier this season, a move some observers believe makes it less likely he will see the free-agent market.
The Yankees and Cano have been working on a long-term deal but so far haven't come to an agreement. Some reports indicate Cano eventually could land a six- to eight-year deal at about $25 million per season,billig beats.
